Approaching from Sanur, we gradually leave the rice terraces behind and ascend into cool, damp moutain country around Danau Bratan's lake.

About two thirds of the way from Pemuteran to Lovina, is the locally important market town of Seririt. Where Nesi Goreng and Gado Gado give way to more regional favorites, such as goat curry ("Goo-lai"). Although Seririt has little tourist resource, it certainly has enough visitor entertainment value for a day, and some very secluded beaches nearby.

On these beaches, a small number of specialist accommodations have recently sprung up. Seririt also is where the mountain road starts to Medewi Beach in the south, via Papuan
